VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Slumber Falls Camp depends on a whole host of volunteers to keep up with a myriad of needs at the camp. If you would like to become a volunteer with Slumber Falls Camp, consider the current list of needs.

Camp Counselors and CITs (Counselor in Training) - These individuals work with our campers during one of our many sessions of summer camp. For more info check out our summer camp volunteer info page.

Site Steward - A person or family who receives free lodging for a weekend and free meals whenever the kitchen is in operation in return for simply being present to attend to the facility and the special needs of groups. Site Stewards will receive the necessary instructions in how to deal with the usual situations that arise on any given weekend. The presence of Site Stewards allows the Administrator to be away for special meetings and presentations.

Office Worker - Although the office is staffed by two regular part-time employees, there are times in which additional help is needed for the preparation of newsletter mailings and various other clerical projects

Maintenance Helpers - The camp always has a number of maintenance needs covering the spectrum from plumbing and electrical to carpentry and painting. There is of course always lawn care work to be done. Even a few hours a month can make a real difference.

Housekeeping - Given the fact that so many people use the facility, there is always a need for general cleaning. This is light-duty housekeeping that anyone can do. This work can be done anytime during the week and at various times on the weekends depending on the groups present.

Kitchen Helpers - Numerous weekends see the camp preparing meals for the groups in attendance. There is always need for helpers in the kitchen. This can involve food preparation, light-duty cooking, and operation of the dishwasher.

Swimming Pool Operations - The upkeep of the pool requires a good deal of work with cleaning filters, checking and adding chemicals, and skimming the pool for leaves. Vacuuming the pool is another necessity.

Lifeguards - Slumber Falls Camp is constantly in need of lifeguards for group swims. This is a paid position and is open to all certified lifeguards.
